Just loved our stay at Mike Apartments. Stayed from 11/10/11 for 2 weeks.End of the season and it rained badly a few times, the worst weather for ages we were told, but that did not matter. The apartment was just what we wanted, facing the sea, which was spectacular when the weather was bad.Manos was AMAZING, his favourite word, nothing was too much. Rena was lovely, sadly never had the chance to say goodbye to her as she left a week before the season ended.Lovely meals at the Hotel, thank you Sophia for being a brilliant hostess.Cannot fault our stay, hope to return.

Our visit at the beginning of September was a brilliant two weeks at your magnificent hotel and apartments.
After only two days and on my birthday I found it necessary to visit a doctor due to an infection in my eyes. Sophie went out of her way to help by organising a taxi to take me to the clinic for treatment.
The food at the hotel was excellent and who can forget Manos and his vitamins. All the staff are friendly and efficient in every way, both Rena and Nikki in the pool bar were brilliant. We have already booked our apartment for September 4th 2012.
We are looking forward to another great holiday at Mike's.

Just got back from Maleme, 4th visit. Mikes is our favourite and frequent place to eat. We always feel like part of the family and the food is second to none. It was lovely to see Sophie, Helen and of course Mike. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome once again.

its so cool to be back at crete this is now our 8th time here, actully im writing this message in the computer room at mikes apartments, i love it here the pool is lovely and has new flashing lights round it which is amazing and the sea has huge waves we are enjoying our holiday so far and i know whats coming up is even better.

If you want a realy friendly welcome then stay with the Paraskakis family. Nothing is to much bother all requests are met with an instant and positive response. The Pool bar and hotel are not only frequented by guest but also by local expats of other nationalities. This makes for a very enjoyable stay and lively evenings with lots of vitamins( Raki and Ouzo) or what ever bottle Manos picks up. We have already booked for next year and that will be our fifth stay.

It was great this year I had found I was going to Crete again for an 8th time this year and I think Crete is the best place any body could wish to go On holiday It was funny as well because some friends we met on holiday got plus and them playing volleyball we went walking round the pool and got as many people as we could I love mikes and I can't beloved what every body who goes there is modsing out on and I would recomend it to evey one because it is brilliant and I realy love it there .

spent a lovely week in July with my mum- having a break from thailand !! enjoyed every minute of the hotel and the pool bar, pool, beach etc. found it to be sooooo relaxing, complete change from phuket! met lots of lovely people and would love to come back again when possible. We were in one of Mike´s apartments in september 2008 and we enjoyed every minute ¨here.
We will come back maybe in august/september 2010 again. Our economy has not been so good this year so we could not travel to Maleme,but we will be back Mike! We like your hospitality and your kindness etc.
We love to visit creete,we have been there three years in a row. 2006,2007 and 2008. We have hired a car everytime we have been i creete and we have found many golden places and nice villages to drive thru etc. We wish you Mike and your crew the best from Sweden a town called Hudiksvall. Just got back today from a week at Mike's Apartments. Have had an amazing time - the accomodation is 1st class, Manos is very friendly and supplies lots of 'vitamin drinks' when required
Great place for a family, there were 7 of us including 3 kids and have not relaxed as much in ... well.. EVER!!

We have just got back from a week at Mikes Hotel and had the best holiday ever, from the minute we arrived at the Hotel Sophia made us feel like part of the family, The people in Malame are so friendly and the place is so chilled out and relaxing, we can understand why people go back year after year, we will certainly be back next year and cant wait.

Visited Mikes for the first time on 23rd June. We have to say that everything that you read about this hotel regarding the family (& staff) is true. From the moment you enter the hotel, you are one of the family. Sophia (you are barking mad) god only knows where you get the energy from to be so jolly all day.
This friendy relaxed nature, along with many manos vitamins soon gets into your pores and, before you know it, you have quickly gained new friends (Tony & Pauline if you are reading this, that idiot Anita has lost your number, please email). It is also wonderful how the 'regulars' (Dave Irvine's mob amongst others) soon welcome the 'Newbies' into 'the family'. It's no wonder people have been returning for many years. Thank you for a great holiday in June, the meals were great and and the hospitality as usual was fab.

We landed much earlier this time
Must have been just after midday,
Then smartly into a taxi
To Mike's on the shores of Chania Bay.
How could we be disappointed?
What a view from East to West,
With mountains, sea, Olive Groves
Oh - Didn't it feel good to be a returning guest!
Yes, there have been some changes
New sea front lighting and the road,
Farmed plots remaining, much as they were
Neither touched nor spoiled by 'progress' overload
The scenery from North coast to South
Is as stunning as when first seen,
From mountain top to river bed, nature's wonders abound
Much like a well run machine.
We shall miss the evening meals
Which are always a great delight,
Lots to choose and mix and match
Supping Ouzo and Raki well into the night.
It does not matter what you do with your time at the Mike Hotel
But one thing is surely certain,
By the time you leave
You'll be a relaxed and chilled out person.

Well, we are back in Sunny Surrey now and missing you all very much! We had the most wonderful time, it far exceeded all our expectations (which were high!) and we have already decided to come back in October.
As you know, it was the first holiday of this sort that we had been on and you make it the most wonderful experience for us.

My husband and I have been to Maleme before but sep.last year we tried Mikes hotel after reading the overjoyed reviews and we were not dissapointed.It´s was the best thing we have ever done.Wonderful apartments,the nicest most wonderful family owns this hotel,great food and the area is very relaxing.Not to mention the other guests.They all were lovely.Maybe it´s because they also had a great time and were relaxed.We talked a lot with an elderly couple from England.Sweetest people..The busses drives to different cities all the time so all in all it was the most wonderful holiday we have ever had. Apollo Denmark apparently has dropped the hotel,which is the stupidest thing they could ever do,but danes can book at Apollo Sweden and can travel from Copenhagen airport so no problems there.
We´re looking forward to go to this paradise on earth again.

When our travel agent suggested that we have a holiday at Mike's Apt, it was a stroke of genius. This was some years ago now and each time since then that we visit it gets better, if that is possible.
The apartments are great, that situation is great and the family Paraskakis are wonderful (Mike, Elena, Sophie, Manos. Frieda) and not forgetting Maria and the very friendly cleaners, who also do a great job!!
Health permitting, we will be back . As the Danish guests called us - the elderly couple!!

Manos, Maria and Sophie gave us so many vitamins I think we've become hyperactive!
We had such a great time you just know we'll be back again. Having stayed in both the appartments and the hotel, we highly recommend them both. The hospitality of all the Paraskakis family is simply superb, so welcoming and friendly,they make you feel as though you too are part of the family.

Monday 10th of March 2008,

Stayed at Mikes Apartments in July 2007, then
tried the hotel in Oct.2007 both were excellent WE
have been coming to Greece for 30 years and Mikes
place is right there at the top. Manos and Sophia and
the girls in the bar made our holiday. So we have
booked again for May 2008. More Alfa and hopefully
more 'vitamins'.

We had a lovely holiday at Mike`s Apartments. We chose this because of all the lovely comments on this page and on trip advisor and we werent disappointed. The people are lovely and the food was great. The vitamins from Manos also helped no end!! He certainly looks after you in the pool bar and it looks great at night. We loved the location and the ambience. If you choose to stay in Maleme you wont be disappointed. We met lots of people who had been coming here for years, so you cant get a better recommendation than that. I am sure we will be back! love Val and Bob

well after my second visit this year and cant wait for my third in september. it was fantastic yet again great new staff martina and diana but best of all maria she is such a great hardworking person and great fun. have been visiting the paraskakis family for 15 years now and they have become my second family and crete my second home.if your thinking of a visit dont hesitate just book its the best greek resort you will ever visit

The family who run this hotel are wholesome honest people who want to maker your stay as enjopyable and memorable as possible.The location is great as it is in quite a secluded part (its not blackpool in the sun!) What a nice place to visit at Mike Hotel & Apartments! Small, cosy und peaceful place.
We found the hotel at Internet and the outlook their WEB-pages already gave us a confident image of their superb facilities (apartments, pool area, and location by the seaside). Probably we were the first Finns to visit the hotel (at leats according to the guestbook at the reception) even the hotel next to Mike H&A were crowded by Finns...
We recommend warmly Mike H&A to everybody who wants seaside hotel with friendly service, good location and peacuful environment. Expecially we liked that poolbar didn't play any loud hit music, so it was easy to lay back by the pool, read the book and enjoy the beautiful environment of Mike H&A...

Well were back home after a fantastic time in Maleme and as usual we found Manos, Sophia, Mike, Ellena and Maggie as pleasant as ever.
We met some lovely people and also suprised our family by turning up without them knowing we were coming to Crete, that was excellent to see their faces.
We also met Carl, Julie for the first time while we were having lots of fun in the pool with their two hooligans, Jordan & Jessica. They were great kids and fun to be with. Hope to meet them all again one day.
Holidays are always nice but you must try Mikes Hotel and Apartments if you've never been before you wont regret it we guarantee.

I have been there with my family on holidays going back ten years and have included a link to this website from the Cafe one. We always have a shit load of fun when we visit as do other people who return regularly. I'm coming from Germany, so I hope you can everything understand what I write here. Since 1989 I'm a big fan of Mike + the Mechanics and of course of Sad Cafe and Paul Young. I think I have each CD's and tracks of Mike and Sad Cafe which are avaiable. It was a terrible shock as he died in 2000. But my question is whats about this hotel. Is Mike Rutherford the owner? Is a member of Sad Cafe the owner? And where are these nice appartments located in Crete? In 2000 I was in Crete (Malia).

The Greek word "Ela" means come - we both recommend that anyone interested in holidays abroad should consider Crete as a first option and should come and stay at Mike's hotel and apartments! We left your marvelous Hotel on the 12th of September directly for home, and since our arrival we have been busy retrieving our missing luggage, which was finally located only yesterday. Thank God, everything was there, and even for the Airline, it is still a mystery where it had gone all that time. But... all is well that ends well.
Now, finally, the time has come to write to you and thank you for your hospitality. We did not know what to expect when we made our reservations in Maleme that we had never seen before.
Fortunately for us we were lucky to find "Mike's Apartments"and especially Manos Paraskakis: you have been a formidable host. Your smile, your courtesy, your generosity and the friendly manner in which you treated all 6 of us in your three apartments, will never be forgotten. We came to Mike's place the first time in 1996. Since then we alternate our summer holidays one year travelling aroung Canada in a camper, the other year doing beautifully absolutly nothing in Maleme ! If you really want to just turn off and relax, the Paraskakis family is the best help you ever could get. Mom Elena and Dad Mike up at the restaurant, their "kids" Manos and Sofia down at the pool bar make you feel just like as at home and part of the family, only better !! This year we were travelling with my wife's brother and his wife, they enjoyed it enourmosly. My wife and me are going to back again in September, as most of our friends from the UK, also repeatedly returning. It very easy to become "addicted" to Crete and to Mike's Hotel !!!
Would I reccomend this place ?? You bet I do !!!!

My Wife and I , First found maleme and Mikes Hotel in 1989.
When manos and Sophie were schol children.
And needless to say ...we go back every year.
and will continue to do so ..
Mike and Elainie..are simply the best..
as are all her staff past and present.

Karen and I have visited the Mike Hotel since 1996/7, and it is Mike, Helena, Sophie and Manos Paraskakis, with Poppy and Maggie providing great support, that make a holiday so relaxing. Whether leisurely breakfasting on the terrace of the Hotel, or having a pre-dinner drink by the Pool Bar, the sunrises and sunsets will not cease to amaze you.
Whilst the village of Maleme has a vibrant history, located west of Hania, it provides an excellent base to enable one to visit the far West and South coast(s) of the Island. Hiring motor cars (with air-conditioning) is not a problem and for the more adventurous, an 'open-top' 4x4 Jeep will take you to the isolated peninsular of Rhodopou, or over the mountains to Paleohora, an idyllic resort on the south coast. En route, you will enjoy superb natural scenery with many villages where you may stop and refresh.
Whatever you decide, your stay at the Mike Hotel & Apartments is unlikely to disappoint you. The welcome, service and humour is abundant and freely given.
Do be prepared for lots of puzzles by the Pool Bar, and beware especially, if you have sampled 'vitamins' for the day, which may include but are not limited to, 'Raki'. or 'Tsikouthia'! Consumption of either, tends to lose one's concentration abilities!
Enjoy the varied Menu and do try all their traditional Cretan Cooking.
Karen and I have enjoyed our visits so much, we are to be married not far from Maleme, during September 05. We shall of course be staying at the Mike Hotel, with eight of our family!
What more can we say?

Thanks to the Paraskakis family (Mike, Helene, Sophi and Manos) and their 'crew', we always have a great time at Mike's Apartments. We have been going back for 4 years running to enjoy a sunny, relaxing, fun and comfortable annual holiday.
This year we had difficulty finding place on flights but were determined to go, so we took a long route to get there. We flew to London Heathrow from Johannesburg via Cape Town. Then we caught a taxi to Gatwick and flew to Chania via Santorini. As always we had a wonderful time.
The apartments are very well rated so, if you are looking for friendly and hospitable, very clean, well priced, comfortable accomodation, you will love it there. We do and we'll be back!!

Mike's was the nicest place we stayed at during our entire trip to Greece. The entire property was spotlessly maintained, the staff was extremely helpful (especially Manos), and were extremely knowledgeable about the area. Everyone was so helpful and eager to please. It is directly across from a beach, although the pool area is so welcoming and nicely laid out, you may not bother with the beach! The rooms are large and the bathrooms are spacious with lots of counterspace (and with two women travelling togther - this is a must!). The location was ideal for getting around, either into Chania or to the westcoast beaches. If you go, you must try to get to the beaches at Falasarna and Elafonisi. We intended to go to different beaches, but Manos guided us to these instead and he was right! Unbelievably beautiful beaches. I can't wait to go

What more can I add that hasnt been explained admirably above! We have been coming here for years and to us its the best ever. We thought we were getting samey and hopped to Skiathos one year but even though it was good it wasnt on a par. The Paraskakis family are warm, friendly, courteous, humorous, extremely helpful, and treat you like their own.
This island has so much, beauty, history, ruggedness, and so much to do that its different everytime we come back. If you want to lie on your back and do nothing, or explore the island then this is the perfect place. We will come back again, and again. Gia Mas Paraskakis!!

Although not a huge amount to do in Maleme itself, Mikes apartments are ideally situated to be able to travel either on your own steam or by using the various excellent local transport services. The hotel and apartments will be mostly filled with folks who have been before at some time or another - such is the pull of the place and the wonderful family who own and run the establishment. It is not unheard of that people go every year, sometimes more than once! The family quickly become friends and treat you as such.
The attention to detail to make your stay as comfortable as possible is wonderful with many thoughtful touches. They even provide you with "vitamins" to keep you happy! There is usually somebody we know visiting at the same time as us no matter when we go and its nice to renew friendships.
For me it is a laid back, de-stressing holiday where I usually eat too much wonderful food and drink too much local wine - but then what are holidays for ?

I have been to mike's apts since 1994 and have returned 2-3 times each year at various times of the year. what can i say apart from they are the best well maintained and serviced apts i have been to and the owners and staff are the most polite and friendly people you would care to meet, nothing is to much trouble and if they dont have something you want they will endeavour to get it to make sure you have a great time. the home cooked food at mike's hotel which is all traditional cretan food is prepared by helena the owner wife and is delivered to your table by excellent staff and always with most politeness and good manner.
for me i will never find a place that will match the location and character of mike's apts and i will never find the service that i have recieved for the last 11 years take my word for it that this is an oustanding place to stay and you will not regret booking (you can also book direct with the owners son manos who will always reply to any emails he receives of you would like anymore info from myself dont hesitate to contact me on lord.mike@virgin.net
i also have many pictures of the surrounding locations which im sure will tempt you to try this location
