The main events of the 73 rd aniversary of the Battle of Crete will be on 20th , 21st and 22nd  of May 2014 . 

Events Schedule of the Battle of Crete 2014


  • 20th of May 

          - Chania Catherdral 11:00  ( Holy   Metropolitan Church of Chania - Official doxology(organization:Ηoly Metropolitan Church of Kydonias & Apokoronas, Regional Unit of Chania & Municipality of Chania)

          - Fircas Fortress Official Flag Raising in the morning 11:30  

   -Visit at the Naval Museum of Crete: presentation of new exhibits

          - Galatas Hill 19:30  Greek New Zealand Memorialmemorial service, laying of wreaths )

  •  21st of May 

          - Keritis Monument Alikianos 10:30  ( memorial service,  laying of wreaths )

          - Tsikalaria Primary School 12:30 Handing over to the Municipality of Chania, of a Memorial Tablet offered by the descendants of New Zealand & Australian Soldiers (27 Μαy 1941 Battle)


          - Maleme Airfield 18:30 Battle of Crete Memorial 

            arrival of military running competition "1st Trophy 1941 Battle of Crete"- memorial service, laying of wreaths

            1st Parachute Squadron demonstration

             awarding of trophies   (organization: Regional Unit of Chania, Municipality of Chania, Municipality of Platanias, 5th Cretan Division & 1st Parachute Squadron)

  • 22nd of May 

         - Kolimbari Vth Cretan Division Memorial 11:00 ( Army Cadets Memorial )  memorial service, laying of wreaths

          - Welsh Memorial Maleme

           - R.A.F. Maleme

           - Maleme German  Cemetery 14:30memorial service, laying of wreaths ) 

           - Souda Bay Ceremony 18:00memorial service, laying of wreaths ) 




Hopefully we will see again from  Britain the three  War Veternas ( from the  Crete Veterans Society ) :  Jack Baker R.A.F. ,  Jim Miller R.A.  and Charles Bright Royal Navy.

Also we  hope to  present in May the the R.A.F. Personnel of the 30 and the 33 Squadron .
